THE PuLSE INSTITUTE NAMES PASCHAL EZE SENIOR STRATEGIC ADVISOR AS IT PREPARES FOR A CONSEQUENTIAL SECOND DECADE

Bankole Thompson says strategic appointment strengthens the national anti-poverty think tank’s institutional leadership, growth and influence ahead of its 10th anniversary in 2028

As The PuLSE Institute prepares to mark a decade of confronting poverty, economic inequality and the moral responsibilities of power, the national anti-poverty and economic justice think tank based in Detroit has named its Chairman Emeritus, Dr. C. Paschal Eze, as Senior Strategic Advisor, a significant leadership appointment designed to strengthen the organization’s institutional capacity and help shape its future beyond its 10th anniversary in 2028.

The appointment signals a broader strategic effort to deepen The Institute’s national influence, expand its intellectual and institutional partnerships, and build the leadership infrastructure necessary to sustain its mission for decades to come.

Bankole Thompson, a nationally acclaimed journalist, author and public intellectual who is the Founder and Chairman of The PuLSE Institute, said the decision reflects a fundamental conviction that institutions committed to social change must be built to outlast their inception.

“The most consequential institutions are not those that simply survive their establishment, but those that develop the moral courage, intellectual independence and institutional strength to remain relevant long after their founding generation has passed,” Thompson said.

“The PuLSE Institute was never conceived as an organization that would merely host conversations about poverty or research and issue statements about injustice. It was established to challenge the structures that perpetuate economic inequality, confront the moral failures of power and insist that human dignity remain central to the decisions of government, business and society.”

“Dr. Paschal Eze understands that mission. His institutional knowledge, strategic judgment and longstanding commitment to our work make him an important partner as we prepare for our second decade. We are not simply planning an anniversary. We are building an institution whose influence must become greater than its history.”

Eze, who previously served as chairman of The PuLSE Institute, brings extensive experience in institutional leadership, strategic communications and organizational development.

As Senior Strategic Advisor, he will work with The Institute’s leadership on strategic planning, institutional development, editorial initiatives, partnership opportunities and efforts to expand the organization’s national reach.

He will also provide strategic guidance as The Institute develops a proposed commemorative book examining its first decade, the leaders and ideas that shaped its mission, and the challenges of economic justice that will define its next chapter.

Attorney Tina M. Patterson, President and General Counsel of The PuLSE Institute, described the appointment as a significant investment in the organization’s future.

“The PuLSE Institute is proud to name Chairman Emeritus Dr. Paschal Eze as Senior Strategic Advisor. His deep institutional knowledge, sound judgment and years of dedicated service have helped strengthen this organization through steady, thoughtful and principled leadership,” Patterson said.

“As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2028, we recognize that the next phase of our work will require greater institutional capacity, stronger strategic relationships and a clear vision for sustained impact. Dr. Eze brings the experience, wisdom and commitment necessary to help us meet that challenge. His appointment strengthens our leadership as we prepare to extend The Institute’s influence well beyond its first decade.”

For Eze, the appointment represents an opportunity to deepen his longstanding commitment to The Institute’s mission and contribute to its next phase of institutional development.

“The PuLSE Institute has always felt like home to me, and helping institutions grow and fulfill their purpose is work I find deeply meaningful,” Eze said.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving distressed and disadvantaged individuals, families and communities through the work of The Institute. Founder and Board Chairman Bankole Thompson has done a phenomenal job of assembling conscientious and compassionate individuals who understand that institutional leadership carries a responsibility to those too often excluded from opportunity.”

“I look forward to working alongside this remarkable team to strengthen The Institute’s capacity, deepen its strategic relationships and help translate its mission into an even greater impact on the communities we serve.”

Antwan Price Sr., a member of The PuLSE Institute’s 10th Anniversary Committee, said Eze’s appointment brings valuable experience and strategic perspective to the organization’s anniversary preparations.

“Dr. Eze’s appointment is an important step as The PuLSE Institute prepares for its next decade. Having known him over the years, I have seen firsthand the wisdom, steady leadership, and institutional commitment he brings to every responsibility he undertakes,” Price said.

“His experience will be invaluable in helping us honor the organization’s accomplishments while building the foundation for its future. This appointment reflects the kind of thoughtful leadership necessary to strengthen The Institute’s long-term impact.”

The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for The PuLSE Institute as it prepares a broader institutional agenda leading to its 2028 milestone.

That agenda includes expanding strategic partnerships across the corporate, academic, civic and philanthropic sectors; strengthening The Institute’s editorial and thought leadership platforms; and advancing national conversations about economic justice, responsible leadership and the persistent barriers facing economically disadvantaged communities.

The proposed 10th anniversary commemorative publication will also provide an opportunity to examine The Institute’s founding vision, its contributions to public discourse and the unfinished work that will shape its future.

Thompson said the ultimate measure of The Institute’s success will be about the enduring difference it makes in society.

“Ten years is a milestone, but longevity alone is not an achievement worthy of celebration. The greater test is whether an institution has the courage to confront the conditions that make its existence necessary,” Thompson said. “Our ambition is not simply to build a respected institution. It is to build a consequential one, an institution that challenges power when conscience demands it, advances economic justice when indifference is convenient, and insists that the dignity of the forgotten must never become negotiable. That is the future we are building, and Dr. Eze will help us build it.”
